元宇宙“虚火”烧尽
有研究机构预计，索尼集团(SONY.US)旗下的PlayStation VR2头显上市后的头几周销量将不足30万部，而这对于该公司在元宇宙开发中发挥主导作用的愿景来说是一个非常缓慢的开端。如今，ChatGPT问世后，席卷全球的生成式AI热潮令红极一时的元宇宙显现出“过时黄花”之态，元宇宙这把“虚火”可谓逐渐烧尽，市场回归理性。
根据知名研究机构IDC的预测数据，从2月22日发售到3月底，预计这家总部位于东京的游戏机制造商可能会卖出约27万台PSVR2。有媒体去年报道称，索尼曾为PSVR2的发布窗口期设定了约200万台的较高目标。索尼发言人拒绝置评。
这款头戴式VR头显是索尼建立一个元宇宙战略的基础部分，在这个战略中，人们可以做的远不止玩电子游戏。索尼总裁兼首席执行官吉田宪一郎将元宇宙作为索尼的增长支柱，就像Meta所做的那样，该公司的内部游戏工作室一直在开发为VR头显量身定制的游戏，以帮助这款新的头戴设备快速启动，但目前还没有彻底实现。
Meta Platforms(META.US)首席执行官马克·扎克伯格所领导的概念性3D虚拟环境尚未取得回报，Meta在元宇宙行业的硬件和软件方面已进行巨额投资，但未取得实质性回报。Meta已经通过裁员以及削减非必要项目开支，来控制其元宇宙部门Reality Labs的巨额支出。
IDC的数据和分析副总裁Francisco Jeronimo表示:“全球消费者都面临着生活成本上升、利率上升和失业率增加等问题。”“在当前的经济环境下，VR头显似乎并不是大多数消费者最关心的话题。”
索尼首席财务官 Hiroki Totoki最近在摩根士丹利的一次会议上表示，索尼有理由相信，在PSVR2上市期间，头显的销量将超过PlayStation VR销售的约500万这一数量。根据本月的一份报告，与之前的设备性能相当并不能使当前的设备取得成功，因为Meta更容易获得和负担得起的Quest迄今为止已售出超过2000万部。
“PSVR2需要一台PlayStation 5游戏主机才能玩，售价549美元，随着经济状况的恶化，这个价格只会显得更加昂贵，”Jeronimo表示。“Meta已经宣布降低Quest 2的价格，这也将影响索尼这款设备的销售数据。”“我怀疑PSVR2需要降价，以避免他们的新产品出现彻底的灾难，”Jeronimo表示。
