$迪士尼(DIS.US)$刚刚遭遇了21年来最严重的单日暴跌,迪士尼周三下跌13%,为2001年9月17日以来最大单日跌幅。

与此同时,$Warner Bros Discovery(WBD.US)$、$狮门娱乐-A(LGF.A.US)$和$AMC院线(AMC.US)$股价均跌至10美元以下。$派拉蒙环球-B(PARA.US)$派拉蒙环球今年市值已缩水一半。

几个月过去,好莱坞感觉良好的流媒体故事就变成了一场恐怖秀。

消费者越来越多地通过流媒体观看电影和节目,在影院和传统频道观看的电影和节目越来越少。为了鼓励这种转变并吸引订阅用户,媒体公司正在把一些最好的节目放到网上。但即使观众成群结队地放弃传统频道,这些新服务也在大量亏损。

长期投资该行业的观察家Porter Bibb 称:“媒体和娱乐行业正在经历一个重大的转型。他们已经进入了隧道,没有人知道他们会从哪里出来。”

这种转型在取消付费电视订阅的消费者数量上很明显。有线电视巨头$康卡斯特(CMCSA.US)$和$特许通讯(CHTR.US)$上个季度总共流失了近80万电视用户。以这样的速度,这将意味着数以百万计的消费者将减少,他们将为MTV、CNN和ESPN买单。

受Disney+流媒体服务的推动,迪士尼直接面向消费者部门的亏损在第四财季增加了一倍多,达到14.7亿美元,原因是节目制作费用增加,以及在新国家推广服务的成本增加。同时,与其他媒体巨头一样,有线电视广告收入的疲软也影响了该公司的业绩。

媒体类股下跌的并不都是好莱坞娱乐公司。今年标普500媒体与娱乐指数中损失最大的是Facebook母公司$Meta Platforms(META.US)$,该公司几乎所有收入都来自广告。Meta股价今年迄今下跌了70%。

MoffettNathanson分析师Michael Nathanson指出,迪士尼传统电视业务的恶化可能是本周财报中更令人震惊的因素。该公司预计明年的利润增长将达到个位数,远低于他的预期。Nathanson在周三的一份研究报告中写道:“我们对迪士尼利润的预测很少如此错误。‘掐线(抛弃广播电视而选择网络电视)’带来的负面经济影响(加上广告市场疲软)似乎终于开始将在迪士尼2023财年的业绩中显现出来。”

迪士尼的第四财季销售额为202亿美元,比分析师的预期低了约10亿美元。不包括某些项目的每股收益降至0.3美元,低于彭博社调查分析师平均预期的0.51美元。不过,迪士尼本周告诉投资者,其流媒体业务的亏损已经见顶。

周三,迪士尼首席执行官Bob Chapek承认,华尔街对其在包括ESPN+和Hulu在内的在线电视领域的大规模投资感到失望。

Chapek指出,该公司明年将庆祝成立100周年。他表示,特别是在尝试一种新的商业模式时,会有减速阶段。
